There can be no peace without dialogue. That’s why the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace exists. It is the first and largest peace research facility in the Middle East. Founded in 1965 with the support of its namesake, President Harry S. Truman, the Truman Institute has played a major role in bringing together academic and political leaders from around the globe. With a primary focus on the Middle East, its researchers also study Asia, Africa, and Latin America; examining them from an interdisciplinary approach – historical, cultural, psychological, political, and socio-economic. The Truman Institute highlights the value of tolerance and dialogue in advancing peaceful co-existence among peoples and nations.
