PROFESSOR AMNON SHASHUA: FOUNDER OF MOBILEYE, SACHS CHAIR IN COMPUTER SCIENCE AT THE HEBREW UNIVERSITY​

Professor Amnon Shashua holds the Sachs Chair in Computer Science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where his research focuses on computer vision and machine learning. He is also the President and CEO of Mobileye, a driver in the global evolution towards a smarter, safer, driverless future. In 2019, the company’s flagship device, OrCam MyEye, was named as a TIME Best Invention. In addition to Mobileye and OrCam, he also founded AI21 Labs and “One Zero,” the first digital bank in Israel.

Professor Shashua received a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Tel-Aviv University, an M.S. in Computer Science from the Weizmann Institute of Science, and a Ph.D. in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Professor Shashua has published over 160 papers in the field of machine learning and computational vision and holds over 94 patents. He was recognized as the Electronic Imaging (EI) Scientist of the Year in 2019 by the Society for Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T). Shashua and his Mobileye team were also finalists in the European Inventor Awards of 2019, awarded by the European Patent Office, for their advanced driver assistance technology. He is a 2020 Dan David Prize laureate in the field of Artificial Intelligence and was selected as the 2022 Mobility Innovator by the Automotive Hall of Fame.
